Default shortcuts#
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Alt + B | Open or hide the panel. |
| Alt + F9 | Start / stop a manual recording. |
| Alt + F10 | Save an Instant Replay clip. |
| Alt + F1 | Capture a desktop screenshot. |
| Esc | Close the current drawer, or hide the panel when no drawer is open. |
Existing installations can retain custom values. The combination displayed in your panel and Settings is the one to use.
Customize a shortcut#
Open Settings, choose a shortcut field, and save a combination containing a modifier and a key. The native host supports Alt, Control, Shift and Windows modifiers, plus named keys such as F9. Prefer simple, distinct combinations.
Do not assign the same combination to two actions. Invalid or duplicate combinations are rejected, and a failed update restores the previous shortcut configuration.
Resolve conflicts#
Quit the previous Electron release and any extra HydroClips instances. Avoid combinations your game or another overlay reserves. The native host uses a Windows keyboard hook, debounces held keys and consumes matching combinations, so a shortcut can also prevent the underlying app from receiving it.
If a shortcut works on the desktop but fails inside an elevated game, test with both applications running at compatible privilege levels. Do not change Windows security settings to troubleshoot this.
Tray controls#
The tray menu provides open/hide, replay, record, screenshot and quit actions. The panel has no title-bar controls in 2.0.7. Hiding the panel and quitting the application are different operations: hiding allows capture to continue; quitting stops the service.
Finish and verify an important recording before quitting or updating the app.
