Your first clip#
HydroClips 2.0.7 records on your Windows computer. You can record locally without signing in. An account is useful for community features, and Google Drive is a separate optional connection.
- Download and install the native Windows app. The website prepares Setup.exe in your browser. Run the installer, then open HydroClips from the desktop or Start menu.
- Follow First-run setup: choose a recording folder, system audio, microphone and video quality. The optional ten-second test saves a real MP4; play it to check picture and sound.
- Wait for the panel to show REPLAY. Capture initialization can take a few seconds while the app checks available encoders.
- Press Alt + F9 once to begin manual recording. The panel changes to REC.
- Press Alt + F9 again to finish. Wait for the saved-clip notification, then open Clips Gallery.
Save what just happened#
Enable Instant Replay before the moment you want to save. Choose a buffer duration, play, and press Alt + F10. A fresh buffer only contains activity since capture started; it cannot recover earlier gameplay.
For a quick check, wait about ten seconds, save a replay, and play the MP4 from your clip folder.
Open and hide the panel#
Alt + B opens or hides HydroClips. Hiding the panel keeps the recording service running. The native panel has no Windows title bar or close button. Use the tray menu to quit, or Escape to hide the panel when no drawer is open.
First-run setup#
The wizard appears until you finish it successfully. Choose a folder; the native service checks disk space and writes then removes a temporary file. Choose system audio, the default Windows microphone and a video quality preset. Saving settings starts replay when it is enabled.
Start 10-second test records your desktop and chosen sound sources, then automatically exports a real MP4. Startup and export add time around the ten-second capture. Play the file and verify audio yourself. You can choose Finish without test; existing settings are retained unless you change them. Reopen the wizard at Recording health & updates → First-run setup.
